Canned Bread is a Portland, ME. based funk quintet dedicated to creating new and innovative sounds while still creating a solid, genuine connection with their audience. On top of their driving funk style, Canned Bread also incorporates elements of jazz, reggae, hip hop, and soul music.
Canned Bread is best known for their energy packed live performances. Raging horns, smooth guitar lines, and an in-the-pocket bass and drum connection are musical elements that you can plan on experiencing at one of Canned Bread’s live shows.
The members’ diverse musical backgrounds contribute to a strikingly innovative yet familiar musical style. Horn players Hunter McKay (saxophone) and Eric Quinn/Josh Gagnon (trombone) move the audience with tight lines and outstanding improvisations, while rhythm section members Jason Emmond (bass), Conor Linehan (guitar), and Robbie Neeb (drums/vocals) provide a solid, funky foundation that makes dancing irresistible.
Canned Bread was brought to life by co-founders Conor Linehan and Robbie Neeb due to a desire to bring their music to the world and create a style that is entirely their own. The band is merely six months old and it has already formed a repertoire that truly exemplifies its entirely unique style. All of their music is comprised of either original works or arrangements of some of the band members' favorite music.
Above all, Canned Bread aims to create an atmosphere of funkiness, good times, and love. Music is why we do what we do, and we want to bring it to the world and make everybody dance! The members of Canned Bread would like to extend a warm thanks to anyone who has come to a show, bought a cd, or walked by a performance and momentarily got super funky.
Canned Bread has already released their first EP and is currently in the process of writing new music. Their new songs will be featured on their album that will be released in early 2016.
